But my place had the best heatwave of ALL TIME! Seriously, why are people so ansty about the heat? Adelaide has won the dubious title of longest heatwave with temps hovering just under 40 for the past 5 days. Ummm this is Australia people and it gets hot. Real Hot. You surely cannot be surprised when the mercury creeps past 35 and stays there for more than a day. It's not like we live in Europe, or even Tasmania for that matter where a heatwave is temps over 30. It is nothing for our little corner of Oz to stay at temps over 40 for weeks. Not days, but WEEKS. We have gotten too soft the past decade or so where we just can't even contemplate a summer day without the air con on full blast. The winkles hate me at the moment because I wont turn the air conditioner on, but it's really not that hot yet so just harden up. 20 years ago it just seemed like we were much better able to cope with hot summers.
